Three Reasons You Need a Birth Photographer

I believe that every baby should have a professional photographer there to capture the first moments of their lives. The birth of a baby is as unique, powerful, and beautiful as a lightning strike.  And the memory of those moments are just as fleeting! Each child's BIRTHday is as unique as the child itself. You and your man have waited a long time for this moment... meeting your newest addition to the family!       If quality photos of your child's most special moments of life are important to you, then you need to hire me to capture their very FIRST special moments!    And here are three reasons why:   1. I am the best cheerleader ever.  You need to hire me because I'm a calming, encouraging presence in your birth space. I'm discerning enough to know what you need, whether it's a ninja-quiet fly-on-the-wall or a hand to hold as you breathe through a contraction. I think birth is a beautiful thing and I can

Singing Canary Drink for Stress and Exhaustion

As winter comes to a close I wanted to share this awesome drink I've been making to help battle stress and exhaustion.     I feel bad for my girls. Elsa and Anna think I lied to them when I said Upstate NY has tons of snow... they haven't even had enough to really go sledding or build a snowman! I'm not really all that sad about the lack of shoveling this winter, but spring's not here yet ;-) Well it's nice to sip this sunny drink, no matter the weather! It's good for everyone, but especially anyone who is physically or mentally under chronic stress.      My Mom is rocking this nutritional plan (check out Trim Healthy Mama here) that has a ton of really great recipes for healing your body and energizing with healthful ingredients. This is my favorite one she's shared with me... it's nice to have something to sip on during the day besides water, especially when I've already met my caffeine quota

A Letter to my Daughter

This might be the beginning of the end of a really funny and adorable era in your life... ...the end of you dressing like a homeless, color-blind princess.     You have always been adamant that your favorite colors are blue... and the rainbow. You have been seen in dress up clothes at ice cream parlors, the grocery store, and kindergarten open house. We have gotten in fights because there aren't any "fancy" pajamas clean. (seriously??? for the love.) You also make it very clear that if I force you to wear jeans I run the risk of being put in a really crappy nursing home when I get old. The other day you came out of your room dressed for school in a relatively tame outfit. I thought it was Opposite Day... that you had had your sister pick your clothes or something. There were no conflicting colors or patterns and there was no lace or frills or glitter or anything. There weren't even mismatched leg warmers! (Now the next day you came out decked head

Class of 2016 | Julz | Corning Photographer

Walking around downtown Corning with Julz in 70 degree weather was definitely an awesome way to end my fall photography. We found so many great gems for her photos! I so appreciated her willingness to try anything! There were a couple times she looked at me like "uhhh seriously?" and I'm like "trust me it feels weird but it will look great!" and I think the following photos prove just how important a photographer-client team is. Working together with my clients to create images they love is always a challenge - but it's so rewarding when when we find that sweet spot. And we got to enjoy some of my favorite fall colors right before the leaves flittered down for the season! Thanks for the awesome photo walk Julz! Congrats on your senior year and best wishes for a bright

Ponderings from Kid Books (and my trip to Yosemite)

{Alright you know how this works but I should say it anyways, any amazon links you see in this post are affiliate links. By clicking on them, you help me bring home some more bacon, at no extra cost to you! You don’t even have to buy what I’m blathering on about, but if you buy anything at all, you are helping support this blog and this business. THANK YOU!}   I try not to be disturbed by the fact that a lot of times the quotes that come most often to my mind are from children's books or movies. I guess that's just a Mom's lot in life! Anyways if you've never read Julia Donaldson's book The Snail and the Whale, you are totally missing out and you need to get yourself a copy. Even if you don't have kids, it's just fabulous. It's all about a snail who wants to travel and hitches a ride on the tail of a whale. And there's a surprise twist ending that I wouldn't dare spoil for you ;-) Read it to your kids and be inspired!    So I thought of
