Family Photography | Togni Family

Family photos are always fun, but the Togni shoot holds a special place in my heart because it was a birthday present for Jen earlier this year from a dear friend who wanted to celebrate in a special way. They celebrated milestone birthdays for her and her husband this year, plus the graduation of their son from high school and their daughter from middle school!  Every year is worth celebrating, but yes, this one seems extra awesome for this family!     The Tognis are one of those families that has you laughing right away. No one is taking anything too seriously, and honestly that's the way I like it! And their level of flexibility was much appreciated, as we got a surprise rain storm midway through our shoot and had to relocate. I know, everyone who's been in Corning this summer is confused by me saying "surprise" rainstorm, as it's been raining what seems like at least once a day all summer. But seriously, the forecast was clear when I left the

Cake Smash Shoot | Miss Harper

I had another opportunity to spend some time with the amazing Christofaro family. This time we set up in the comfort of their home to celebrate Little Miss Harper's first birthday!     First of all, I really loved Melissa's choice of The Very Hungry Caterpillar as a theme. Besides the fact that I loved reading that book to my own little ladies, Eric Carle just slam-dunks the bright-colored cuteness!     And just look at the lace details of this dress she found! I die!     As I was setting up my background and we finished blowing up the balloons, Harper needed a quick nourishing nibble before indulging her sweet tooth and I took the opportunity to capture the sweetness of those moments, too.     So first the balloons...     And then, CAKE.     And oh my, did she dig in!     It was funny, the more

In Home Family Session | Cozy Details

I am finishing up editing one of my favorite sessions to date. It was a recent in-home, multi-generational shoot that was full of just the sweetest moments.  Grandma and Great-Grandpa were there to snuggle and play and share sweet baby kisses. We hung out in the toy room where the girls spend their days playing with their Grandma while Mom and Dad are at work. They snuggled on the couch together and showed me their favorite dolls and awesome microscope!     Big Sis got into her dance outfit for me and showed me her music box. They read stories together and jumped on Mom and Dad's bed. There were tickle-fights and giggles galore.     Photoshoots like this are hands-down my favorite because I can just see how much more relaxing it is for families. Especially those with real little ones. Everyone is more comfortable in their natural habitat, adults AND kiddos! We were able to take breaks for goldfish snacks and breastfeeding and

Family Photos | The Christofaros

This family photo session is near and dear to my heart because I know how patiently Melissa waited for it to finally happen! You guys, I've never had the experience of having to reschedule a shoot not once, not twice, but THREE TIMES due to rain! It was insane. Poor Melissa scheduled with me all the way back in June for a nice summery photo session and we didn't end up meeting until the end of August... on a particular chilly day, too! So she deserves a million gold-stars for being such a flexible and so easy-going client despite the hassle. It was so great having someone so excited about photos with me. And I'm so pleased to present her with this blog sneak peek of the results... her little ones just shine. I had so much fun chasing them around during the session and so much fun editing the photos afterwards. If these darlings don't make you smile, I don't know what will! Thanks again for your patience, Melissa & Brian! I think you'll agree it was worth the

What is “Golden Hour” Anyways?

Golden Hour is a professional photographer's favorite magic trick. It's a bit of a misnomer because it's actually a two hour chunk of time either right after the sun rises or right before the sun sets.     As someone who loves drama and bright splashes of light in her work, Golden Hour delivers almost every time.     But it also provides the opportunity for a really soft, natural light that flatters everyone. No harsh shadows under the chin or eyes, nice soft well... golden light! (for lack of a better word!)     There is something about Golden Hour that makes everything sparkle and shine! This image of this picnic table at any other time of day would not be nearly as inviting.     See? This isn't Golden Hour. This is Boring Hour. It's fine, it's just not singing to me.     But here, in Golden hour, it gets me feeling all poetic and nostalgic about summer, don't you

Family Photos | Dunbar Family + Baby Troy

The Dunbar Family and I had a really neat moment of star-alignment a couple weeks ago. Not only was the schedule free and the weather nice for a last-minute photo shoot, but it was the last weekend there were still leaves in Canfield Park! I'm always sad when the City does the Great Leaf Clean Up every fall ;-) But we got to sneak in our photos really quick that Sunday and it was extra special because it was Baby Troy's first family photo session with the crew!  And he was pretty much a pro,
