Besides pizza, I would have to say Tex-Mex is a close second as far as my favorite foods go. And to celebrate the amazing traditions and food contributions we have gained from Mexican Americans I will leave you with these brightly colored salsa photos (and recipe!) from my recent Food Photography Workshop at 171 Cedar Arts Center. Easter Cookie Magic

Sometimes you just need to shake things up. Maybe it was because I felt stuck in the drudgery that is the end-of-winter in Upstate NY... where the sun comes out to tease most days but it's still too cold to be outside much. Maybe it was because March was an exceptionally busy month for me, both professionally and personally, which meant I was spending what seemed like more than the usual time with my eyes glued to my computer screen. (Don't get me wrong, I love my work. I even love it when it's fast-paced and I feel like most days I'm sliding into home plate barely having finished everything I need to get done!)     Whatever it was, I needed to do something different. I still needed to create, especially if I was going to justify tackling a project that would take me away from my desk and my never-ending work to-do list. But the kitchen seemed to be calling me, and the creative thrill of fancy Easter cookies seemed like just the right way to celebrate

When I was in Texas visiting my bestie, we spent one evening doing something we have ALWAYS enjoyed together: the making and photographing of pretty food. For as long as I have known this girl we have both been obsessed with kitchen experiments, pretty food, fresh ingredients, eating... and food photography.  I was laughing to myself as we played around taking photos of this pizza, because I thought "Who else in the world would happily let me take photos of a pizza to the point it's lukewarm by the time we eat it?" ;-) But don't worry, there was another one on the grill. Okay so for many moons now I've been using this awesome recipe from America's Test Kitchen {affiliate link} to make cute little cutout cookies.  I make them mostly for Christmas, but I've also done them for pretty much every single other holiday as well... Easter, July 4th, birthdays, and Halloween. Oh and Valentine's Day too!
